Rule Revisions for Docks and Platforms
The rule making process for docks and platforms is not moving as fast as anticipated.
The Draft Rules are currently at the Governors office for review and input. Once approved by the Governor, they will be published and a 60-day period will start.
When the 60 day period is over, public hearings may be held.
There may be four hearings around the state.
Last January was the target date the Legislature requested for the new rules. Note that the Rules will not be going back to the Legislature for approval.

New Dock Rules Revison and New Shoreland Rules Revision
The Minnesota DNR is currently in the process of revising its rules for Docks and separately revising rules for Shoreland.
Regarding Dock Rules, you may have thought that process was over. It is not. The DNR is now revising the Rules that regulate structures in public waters. That includes dock, lifts, mooring systems, geothermal facilities, and more.
Regarding New Shoreland Rules, the DNR is also revising those Rules.
The Shoreland area covered by these rules includes the land within 1000 feet of the water's edge. These rules affect property owners, and the use and development of shoreland areas. The Rules set mandatory standards for local planning and zoning regulations that local government must enforce.
