Edward Lake Area Association of Homeowners

About Edward Lake
Edward Lake, a 33 acre lake is nestled within the urban environment of the City of Maple Grove. It is one of seven lakes found in Maple Grove. The lake has a variety of wildlife such as deer, egrets, herons, muskrat, mallards and an occassional loon in the early springs. The lake also has human activity during the summer months with paddle boats and canoes gliding along the shore. With any lake, there are concerns and issues in which the association is dealing with such as water quality, weed maintenance and fish population control.

About ELAAH (Edward Lake Area Association of Homeowners)
ELAAH was formed in 2001 and consists of members who are lakeshore owners and those who live within the area surrounding Edward Lake. The ELAAH members are those not only concerned with the dynamics of Edward Lake but all of the natural resources that surrounds the lake. There are many acres of park, wetlands and ponds with the Edward Lake watershed.

Maple Grove Lake Quality Commission
The Lake Quality Commission was established by the City Council in 1986. Seven of the 12 members are chosen to represent areas near the City's lakes with the remaining five members representing the community at-large. The City Council appoints the members of the Commission for three-year terms.

Maple Grove lakes have attracted a substantial amount of residential development and the water amenity serves as a focal point for the City and Hennepin County Park Trail System. The Maple Grove Lake Quality Commission is concerned with activities adjacent to and near the lakes as they affect water quality and with the surface use of the lakes.

Edward Lake is represented on the commission by an ELAAH member and is a two year term. The commission meets at 7:00 PM on the third Wednesday of each month at the Government Center.
